The following is a list of episodes for the FOX animated television series American Dad!. The show premiered on February 6, 2005 in the post Super Bowl slot. The series began regular airings on May 1, 2005.

It is currently airing its 4th season, which also includes part of a 22 episode fourth production cycle of episodes[1] FOX has also renewed American Dad for a fifth production cycle of 22 episodes to begin airing during 5th Season. [2]

While the first season is only 19 episodes production-wise, episodes from the second season were added to it since the season started in May, much earlier than is common for a television series.

Stan, wanting to beat his rival at something, volunteers to become a replacement deacon against him after the previous deacon died. Meanwhile, Roger is going through his reproductive cycle and, in the process, accidentally impregnates Steve.

Stan finds Deputy Director Bullock, his supervisor, starting a relationship with Hayley. However, he can't risk saying or doing anything about it because he's up for a promotion at the CIA. Stan and Roger experience life in each other's shoes in a Freaky Friday-type switch. As a result, Roger becomes a car salesman while Stan stays around at home all day, both realizing these lives aren't all they're cracked up to be.

Stan gets a hefty bonus at work and uses it on himself while Francine opens a muffin shop without Stan's approval. Now without a housewife at home, Stan puts Klaus's brain back into a human body. Klaus's brain in the human body flushes dead Klaus down the toilet and kidnaps Stan. Stan, still tied up, is expected to stop the human body from stealing Francine. Meanwhile, Steve is convinced he's becoming a werewolf

Stan seeks revenge for being the focus of a prank during his high school years by showing off that he married Francine, who is the homecoming queen. However, when her title is revealed to be a mistake, Stan's pride gets the best of him and goes out with the real queen.

While researching a paper about George Washington Carver in celebration of Black History Month, Steve uncovers a conspiracy thats been going on since the Civil War and strives to expose it to the public. Meanwhile, Roger stalls during a game of Jenga with Hayley.

A misunderstanding at the CIA leads Stan to believe it's the end of the world. Even after he realizes his error, he keeps his family convinced they are the last people on Earth so they can respect him. Meanwhile, Roger gets married so he can buy a new blender.

Stan goes to great lengths to never, ever end up in a situation ending with Francine telling him, "I told you so." She lets him hook his boss Bullock up with her friend, but when Bullock accidentally kills the woman, Stan frames Francine so that she'll stop asking questions.

Stan feels his marriage is on shaky ground after discovering Francine's secret sex garden, so Francine insists on a divorce in order to rekindle their romance, and so that Stan can experience life as a bachelor again. Meanwhile, Steve becomes addicted to an energy drink.

Stan brings some special CIA equipment home to eavesdrop on neighbors, discovering what they really think about him. To get back at them, he has the entire neighborhood evicted. Meanwhile Roger convinces Steve to join him in scamming store owners out of money.

Stan recounts his story of how he set out on a quest to make Steve a man, which gets him prosecuted for slaughtering contaminated cattle. Meanwhile, Roger starts a cat fight between Francine and Hayley after he unintentionally gives one a little more attention.

Roger and Stan turn into bounty hunters and chase Jeff, who is wanted for smuggling marijuana across the country. But when the truth is revealed, Stan offers some fatherly advice. Meanwhile, Steve becomes convinced that he has been cursed with a psychic gift.

Hayley, having been brainwashed as a child by the CIA, is placed under Stan's control after he activates her trigger word to stop her from moving to France; Stan, however, discovers that doing so has deadly consequences for him. Meanwhile, Steve and Roger become rival detectives.

At a poker game with the guys, Stan reveals that he has never actually killed anyone and is therefore a "killing virgin." Stan's image in the house changes quite a bit, so Roger and the guys decide to help him pop his killing cherry.

Francine decides to be a surrogate, against Stan's wishes, for her gay neighbors Terry and Greg. Meanwhile, after Klaus swears horrible revenge on Steve and Roger after a prank, the two become reclusive and hide in the attic.

Stan dies during his ambition to find the perfect Christmas tree. He arrives in Limbo where he learns his family's lives are threatened, so he goes to desperate measures to return to Earth and receive a second chance at life.

In this James Bond parody, Stan plays a 007-type secret agent sent to stop the diabolical Tearjerker (played by Roger) from fulfilling his master plan to create a movie so sad that it causes anyone who watches it to cry themselves to death.

Feeling threatened by Stan's mother, to whom Stan is once again giving support with her failing relationships, Francine seeks to loosen the umbilical cord and find out what goes wrong with her boyfriends. Meanwhile, Steve accidentally catches the Ich from Klaus.

Francine pushes Stan to open up to her emotionally but, after a few psychiatrist sessions with Roger, he's more touchy-feely than she can handle when he tells her he killed her friend's husband. Meanwhile, Steve vows vengeance when Hayley kills the queen bee from his science project.

Stan is assigned to track down a former KGB agent, eventually discovering that the man is his new next-door neighbor and is trying to turn Steve into a communist. Meanwhile, Roger and Klaus head to Europe for a little R & R.

When the CIA initiates an Alien Task Force, a peculiar twist of fate puts Roger in charge of the task force in disguise, who marks Stan as an alien to protect his own identity. Meanwhile Francine comes to grips with being left-handed.

After officially dying and coming back to life, Stan decides to leave a legacy on the world and begins to search for legendary buried treasure. As the search for gold goes "North," life at home heads south as Hayley turns to body-piercing, Steve creates a robotic girlfriend and Roger files for sexual harassment.

Stan has a Spring Break-induced mid-life crisis. With Francine away visiting her parents, Roger "Scotch Bingington" invites Spring Breakers to party at the Smith household. But Stan nearly has a "Spring Breakdown" when he falls prey to a sexy booze-cruiser and Steve tries to lose his virginity.

While he attempts to do the crook justice, he realizes things are not quite right and seem all too familiar. Meanwhile, the rest of the Smith family gets sucked into a mean game of Simon.

When Stan becomes his boss' new advisor, he feels like he can't say no to anything, not even outrageous personal requests. But when Francine gets involved in the situation and his annoying "yes-man" antics ruin her Valentine's Day vacation, she does everything in her power to force him to say "no".

Stan becomes jealous when he finds out Francine was once engaged to a pilot whose plane crashed, and that she seemed to settle for Stan before learning her former fiancé was still alive. He and Roger try to track the man down, while Francine must choose between her husband or her lost love.

Things take a bizarre twist when the double begins hitting on Francine. Meanwhile, Roger and Steve get their first summer job at a Chinese chicken hatchery.

Roger suggests Stan hold a telethon to raise funds after the CIA's budget cut, but when Stan takes all the credit for the idea, Roger tries to sabotage it.

When Steve suffers indignities in school because of his scoliosis, Stan confides with him an embarrassing secret of his own. Meanwhile, Roger brings both Francine and Hayley to a posh spa, even though he has only two passes, raising the suspicions of the house detective.

Feeling exhausted all the time, Stan begins taking pills that allow him to stay up all night and feel like he had a full night's sleep. He tries to use his newfound energy and time on hobbies, only to ultimately discover he'd rather spend more time with his wife. Meanwhile, Roger and Steve are asked to make a screenplay for a pornographic film

Roger has been making excuses about prior commitments, prompting the Smiths to realize that he has been "cheating" on them with other families. The Smiths take action to teach Roger a lesson about monogamy until Roger discovers for himself why he isn't a one-family kind of guy.

When Langley Falls implements a ban on trans fats, Stan finds himself legally separated from his favorite foods. He sets a poor example for the rest of the family when he blatantly disregards the law by crossing county lines and using Steve as a trans-fatty food mule to satisfy his own gluttonous desires.

When Stan forgets to pick up grenadine at the grocery store, Roger goes ballistic and vows to get him back by taking over a project close to his heart – the Homeowner’s Association. So when Roy Rogers McFreely is appointed chairman of the association and starts to abuse his power, Stan, Hayley and Steve lead the opposition to preserve the small town's "American" values and take the community back from “the man.”

Steve signs Stan up for a father-son bike tournament, but the plan veers off-track when Stan admits that his father never taught him how to ride a bike. Determined to make things better, Steve helps reconcile Stan with his convict father. Meanwhile, Hayley needs internship credit for school, so Roger hires her to bartend at his makeshift bar in the attic. 
14 72 "Bar Mitzvah Shuffle" March 22, 2009 4AJN06
Steve and the gang sabotage a stuck-up kid's bar mitzvah, after he hits on Steve's girlfriend, Debbie. But when Snot is wrongly accused of stealing the kid's bar mitzvah money, he must answer to the Rabbi, putting his own celebration in jeopardy. Meanwhile, Stan and Francine pitch an idea to a cell phone company, but the plan gets "dropped" when they can't deliver the goods. 
15 73 "Wife Insurance" March 29, 2009 4AJN08
When Stan gets kidnapped in Colombia, Francine fears he's gone for good. Stan finally reappears unharmed, but the real trouble erupts in the Smith household when he admits that he has a plan to marry his dentist if Francine dies before him. Meanwhile, Steve and Roger play detective duo "Wheels and the Legman."

Stan is excited about finally building his dream car: a DeLorean. Francine encourages him to include Steve, so the two take a road trip in search of doors for the sports car. The trip veers off-track when there is a mad dash across the country to get the last set of doors available.

Steve joins a junior football team to make Stan proud. However, when a hyper-competitive Stan assumes the position of head coach, Steve gets kicked off the team for not being good enough. Out for revenge, Steve and Roger recruit a new team of misfits who threaten Stan’s perfect season. Meanwhile, Francine and Hayley compete for a blue ribbon at the Langley County Fair.

Stan has had enough of Roger’s antics! When he calls Roger out, Roger claims he has been sent to Earth to determine the fate of mankind. Stan challenges him to prove it, and is tickled pink when he learns Roger’s real purpose for being on Earth. Roger struggles to get a grip on reality until a fateful turn of events helps put things in perspective.

Neighbors Terry and Greg are nervous when Terry’s father, football great Tank Bates, announces that he will be coming to town for a visit. Terry is worried because his dad doesn’t know he’s gay, has a baby or lives with his partner. Meanwhile, Steve goes on a drunken bender and learns the meaning of “beer goggles.”

Stan leaves Francine at home to go out with the boys, but guys’ night out goes from wild to reckless when Stan finds himself in one compromising situation after another. Meanwhile, Roger and Hayley use their charm and looks to attract a frat boy.
