Open eBook (or OEB), or formally, the Open eBook Publication Structure (OEBPS), is a legacy e-book format based on XML format; it has been superseded by the Open Publication Structure (OPS) specification, which is the new name of the successor format, by the International Digital Publishing Forum (IDPF).
In its essence, it is a zip file plus a manifest. Inside the package a defined subset of XHTML may be used, along with other CSS and the Dublin Core metadata. The default file extension is .opf (OEB Package Format).
